projectM 0.99 is the current release.
In order to use projectM, you need to install libprojectM 0.99, then install one of the implementations (xmms-projectM or libvisual-projectM).
libvisual-projectM supports libvisual 0.4
There are two xmms-projectM implementations available, the regular one (xmms-projectM), and an experimental one (xmms-projectM-pbuffers) with pbuffer support. The pbuffers version, if it works, should give better rendering quality (crank the texsize up to 1024 in the projectM config file). Please email me [peter@REMOVE.sperl.com] if you are using the pbuffers version successfully, and please list your graphics card.
